Talk to your friends and change your status if you don't wish to be bothered

Hangouts, which replaces Google Talk is an application from Google that allows you to chat and video message your Google contacts. The interface is very easy to use and pretty simple in design, which makes it kind of serious.

In order to use it, you just need to select the contact you want to talk to and begin a conversation: you don't need your friends to be connected, they'll just receive the message later. And don't forget you can also create group chats, see when people are typing and whenever they've seen your message.

You can use Hangouts in the computer and your mobile device, changing your status whenever you're busy or don't want to talk to anybody.

Google Inc. is the developer of Hangouts, an application that allows you to message your contacts and friends easily and quickly. However, there are better options right now in the market and the interface is not that impressive.

● Say more with photos, emoji, and animated GIFs.
● See when people are together in Hangouts, when they’re typing, or whether they’ve seen your message.
● Send and receive text messages (SMS/MMS) with Hangouts. Switch between SMS and Hangouts when messaging a friend. You can also do group MMS conversations.
● Turn any conversation into a video call with up to 10 friends.
● Message friends anytime, even if they're not connected right now.
● Use Hangouts on computers, Android and Apple devices.

More Hangouts awesomeness:
● Hangouts stay in sync across devices so you can start or continue them anywhere.
● Choose from hundreds of emoji to help you make your point.
● See what you talked about in the past, including shared photos and your video call history.
● Get notifications just once. Once you see an alert, you won’t see repeats on your computer or other Android devices.
● View collections of photos shared from each of your Hangouts.
● Snooze notifications at times when you’d prefer to be undisturbed by alerts.
● Quickly share a location with your friends.

● Unlike Google Talk, Hangouts does not support "invisible" status.

Recently changed in this version

It's my primary sms app and I like it but it cold use some improvements such as customization and making each person's conversation one thread instead of switching between sms and hangouts. The front facing camera brightness for the LG g2 video chat needs

Causes my phone to reboot all the time, but only when this app is opened. You would think google could create an app on its own operating system that would work

I have to go to the new handouts screen to see if someone is online. That's ridiculous. There should be a symbol or green bar or something on the main page with the list of active hangouts.

Can't receive MMS on LG Optimus. Won't download and only options available are delete and resend (for received message mind you). Makes it hard to justify using over basic messaging service on my phone.
